Swedish Pavilion at GreenBuild2010 in Chicago
Aug 12 2010
The GreenBuild exhibition and conference 2010 will be arranged on November 17-19 at the largest trade show arena in the U.S., the McCormick Place in Chicago. The expo is considered the World's largest within green building and attracts the majority of top manufacturers, architects, consultants, builders and distributors. The Swedish Trade Council will organize a Symbiocity pavilion and matchmaking at the fair.
The U.S. construction market is in rapid change and green buildings are taking market shares from traditional architecture. A leader in this trend is the U.S. Green Building Council, best known for its LEED classification. The council annually organizes the trade show GreenBuild.
Chicago is a central location for both traditional and green architecture. The city’s architecture was able to take new paths after the great fire in 1871, and fourteen years after the fire, the first skyscraper was completed in the city. Today, the city has the most LEED certified buildings in the U.S. and the city is also home to the world's largest LEED certified building, the Chicago Merchandise Mart. The current trend is moving towards working with larger project including entire city districts. As an example there are five pilot projects taking place in Chicago that are partaking in the new system, LEED for neighborhoods. At the same time a record large green neighborhood is planned on the site of a former steelworks. During the fair, the U.S. Green Building Council will offer several building tours of the city.
